"Grab my drill," Heather's last words at the Porch Gallery.
an astrologerâŚwe had a kickass team of all female professionals helping us sell the building that housed the chocolate shop; yet not one of them could stop Lisa and I from crumbling under the magnitude of the move. Death, divorce, and moving are often listed as top causes of stress. On our current trajectory, I feared that I was going to experience all three simultaneously. Every moment of accomplishment we felt for the building we restored was counteracted with the anxiety of floorboards that needed to be touched up with a paint color we couldnât match. Every loving memory of the community events hosted in our space was tainted with the realization that we needed to find boxes for 200 wine glasses. Every ounce of pride we felt for meticulously curated gallery rooms was diminished by closets stuffed with framing materials and installation tools that needed to be packed. Just when I was hitting my breaking point, the intuitives stepped in to calm us. Our realtors assured us that they would find a buyer who loved the building as much as we did. Our astrologer confirmed that Ojai had already picked her and the tumult would be worth it. On April 3rd 2023, their predictions came true. We handed the keys to the John Montgomery House to the new owner and Beato Chocolates officially became a wholesale and online business.
Stay tuned,
