There is a saying, “Ojai is great to come home to.” Beatrice Wood knew it and described coming into town as akin to “finding a pot of gold at the end of a long, obstacle-strewn rainbow.” And, I felt it after returning home from a two week tour of Alaska. There are many beautiful places in the world and there are many charming small towns in the world; but, for better or for worse, none of them are like Ojai. Our tagline, “anti-established in Ojai, California,” is a nod to the principals of the Dada movement that Beatrice helped create. It is also an acknowledgement of our roots. There might even be a personal reference in there somewhere. But, mainly, it is a stamp of civic pride. We want everyone to know where we come home to.
